This project objective is to reclaim a landscape that has been ravaged by years of quarrying, spanning over 200 hectares. Extensive reforestation is envisioned through a deep understanding of the vital role fungi play in forest ecosystems. Often described as the ‘wood wide web,’ mycelium serves as nature’s interconnected network, enabling trees to share nutrients and even knowledge on combating specific threats. The project leverages computational tools to comprehend the intricate connections within the forest, facilitating the forest’s successful establishment and growth.
